S1E6 | The Future Is…

** Heads up, I have a lot I want to discuss and share around my experience with burnout so this will end up being a series of posts. For ease, I will label the posts in the title like you see here. Welcome to season 1, episode 6. You can find all of my posts related to my burnout experience here.

Burning out changed my view of work and life.

I’m still dealing with a number of things post burnout. Some days are good and hopeful. Other days are pretty dark and feel hopeless. Sometimes I feel strong and capable and other times I feel anxious and depressed. Though my blood pressure is under control with my medication and it seems like my hair isn’t rapidly thinning any more I still deal with really rough days at times.

So what does this all mean for me and my future. I am giving myself ample time to work through things, continue to read and research what I can, and to give myself the grace and space to figure things out. I’m reminding myself that sometimes we need space to breathe and to sit in contemplation or meditation. I’m revising my values and vision for my life so I can prioritize the things that mean the most to me.

One thing I have realized is that I can’t look at work the same way.

I do know it’s possible to be excited about work, to be hopeful for what a team of incredible people can do together, and that some work is really meaningful and can change peoples lives.

What I don’t know is if working in systems not designed for us, with leaders who receive minimal/no meaningful training on how to lead, and in companies that continuously prove they are about profits over people can lead to anything but stress, anxiety, and burnout.

Is it our inability to be adaptable and agile or is it the system was designed to keep us in a space of lack, desperation, and fear because these feelings keep us compliant and quiet?

How do we create the necessary systems/social change without burning out? Is it even possible? Or are we beyond the point of systems change to needing a whole (r)evolution?

What I know as we close out 2025 is that I am determined to do what I can to shift the future of work both for myself and for anyone who stumbles into my corner of the world. Stay tuned for some updates on some programs that are near to my heart that I am looking forward to sharing in the new year. I’m also looking to build more free/low-cost resources so no matter what your circumstances you can start reclaiming your power and peace to build the life you desire.
