Contemplating Life’s Choices

If you look around my site you’ll see I created this space a while back. I ended up taking a break as I spent some time in contemplation trying to figure out what I wanted to do as next steps in my career and life. Overall I was doing ok but something was missing.

Looking back at the past year I realized the thing that was missing was the next evolution of me.

If you’ve been in my space for any amount of time you know I’m a lifelong learner and I am often spending time reading, listening to podcasts, or watching YouTube videos to learn new things. It started from a sense of being less than (I don’t have a degree and constantly felt I had to keep learning just to deserve a space in the room, let alone at the table) and ended up being a habit that now serves me well.

Over the last year what I realized was that everything I was trying to learn to support my career was a repeat of things I’d already understood and put into practice. In fact, most of the time I could start to pick out the nuance and practical application pieces that were missing from the context of the books, trainings, and other activities I was participating in.

This isn’t to say that the things I participated in weren’t valuable to me and I always learn things even if I am hearing something that I’ve learned before. Plus even if the content isn’t new the opportunities to be in community, meet new folks, and continue to feed my personal growth are always worth the time spent learning. The realization I had was that if I’ve learned a good chunk of what feels applicable for where I’m at in my career it may be time to put that learning into action and see what comes next for me.

That said, I’m back! You can see I’ve got the official URL up for Contemplating Life’s Choices and I’ve updated the content to include a Media page where you can check out some of the public facing work I’ve done and book me as a speaker for your event and a Coaching page with the details on how you can officially work with me!

I’m currently accepting 1:1 coaching clients, speaking engagements, and my free Career Discovery Guide is available for those looking for a self serve option. I’m also working on a program that I think will be a game changing leadership development experience but you’ll have to stay tuned to learn more about that.

So, whether you’re new here or are coming back to this space, welcome! I’m on a quest to cultivate the next generation of diverse leaders and hope you will join me.
